Be Unpredictable

Try something unpredictable in your room design. Have you ever felt “stuck” because you didn’t want to add a bulky coffee table to your seating area? Why not try something a little unpredictable by using some garden statues in a fresh, new way?

These bunny statues are holding a piece of glass with the help of those little clear rubber tabs that usually are attached to the back of a picture frame. They peel & stick to the bunny ears, to create a soft, non-skid place for the glass to rest.

There's more than one form of balance. Granted, most of us have two ears, two eyes, one arm on each side of our bodies. But what about a photograph of you standing next to your mate. One is taller, or wider, than the other. One darker, one lighter, etc. But you're still balanced, right? You still go together!

The same idea applies to room redesign. One of the basics of design is that a diagonal line is more interesting than a straight line. So when placing candles on either side of granny's portrait remember that a short candle on one side and a taller one on the other can be more interesting to live with than one of those altars we've all seen and cringed at.

Wasn't it John Lennon who said there are no problems, only solutions? That's what we believe. Solutions are everywhere waiting to be discovered... by you!

"Works of Art"

A simple solution.

Some "works of art" inspire us to get out the spray paint. On one recent redesign, the room needed a large horizontal picture. In the garage sale pile we found a 1980's wrapped canvas piece of "artwork" from a previous home. When we asked the homeowner about the picture, she said, "I hate it and can't wait to get rid of it."

Because interior redesign involves using the existing furnishings in a fresh new way, we used a trusty can of bronze spray paint and in a few minutes had created a neutral but lively textured piece. It had a calming and harmonizing influence on the entire room. Just what our client needed!

Good solutions don't have to be expensive, or complex!
